JASMIN WARNOCK
Atlanta Artist and Printmaker
"My reason for making prints is to become centered in my identity and process my experiences through the work that I make. As a British Immigrant, raised in Mississippi currently living in Atlanta, growing up in the deep south, the environments in which I have lived have heavily impacted my work as a biracial black queer woman. I use my work and printmaking as a vessel, in order to portray the process of grappling with my identity. This portrayal seeks to also foster connection with others with similar experiences. My current body of work expresses how our experiences and childhood directly affect the people we become and how we present to the world. I find that our natural environment is a beautiful reflection of our experiences and often use nature and florals to represent the settings of my past. Recently, I have been interested in portraying how domestic and natural environments can pinpoint specific memories and experiences from my childhood"
